Accreditation
One of its main aims is to improve professionalism among journalists as it ensures that all accredited journalists have the right skills to carry out their duties in a professional manner.
Adjudication
The adjudication function is carried out by a special committee of the Council, known as the Ethics, Complaints and Disciplinary Committee, that fulfills the following clause of the Act:
Facilitate resolution of disputes between the government and the media and between the public and the media and intra-media.
Advocacy
MCM’s Advocacy seeks to fulfill two of its mandates under the Act:
Promote self-regulation and professionalism in Malawi and protect the freedom and independence of the media
Ensure the protection of the rights and privileges of journalists in the performance of their duties
